… Need PCI Video Card To Play BluRay Videos …..?
Here's the deal ... I have a HP Presario A730N (a P4 with 3.0 ghz processor) that a friend gave me.
I recently bought a LG Blu Ray burner that installed fine and has burned CD, DVD and Blu Ray discs with no issues. In fact I love this thing ... mainly because it lets me burn huge amounts of data to back up and clear space on used hard drives.
... but ...
When I placed "Avatar" in to enjoy a great movie ...
... Playback stopped because your graphics driver is incompatible ...
It went on to say error code 0012 and to look for more information on CyberLinks web site.
Anyway ... the card on the motherboard is not powerful enough so I need a good PCI card (I can't use PCI express because it won't fit the older motherboard) to get this puppy going.
Any links to share?
Thanks and thumbs up to all who answer ... just give me time to get back and read the answers.

I never thought of that ... thanks!
More great answers ... thank you!

Unfortunately, decent PCI cards are expensive compared to PCI-Express, because of limited supply.
If you need HDMI output for a TV screen, the Radeon 4350 is the pick:

But if you just need movie playback to your monitor, the GeForce 8400GS is enough:

What I think the problem is that your current graphics setup is not able to decode HDCP, which is a copy protection measure. You will need a HDCP compatible video card to play movies that require HDCP.
