… Need PCI Video Card To Play BluRay Videos …..?
Here's the deal ... I have a HP Presario A730N (a P4 with 3.0 ghz processor) that a friend gave me.
I recently bought a LG Blu Ray burner that installed fine and has burned CD, DVD and Blu Ray discs with no issues. In fact I love this thing ... mainly because it lets me burn huge amounts of data to back up and clear space on used hard drives.
... but ...
When I placed "Avatar" in to enjoy a great movie ...
... Playback stopped because your graphics driver is incompatible ...
It went on to say error code 0012 and to look for more information on CyberLinks web site.
Anyway ... the card on the motherboard is not powerful enough so I need a good PCI card (I can't use PCI express because it won't fit the older motherboard) to get this puppy going.
Any links to share?
Thanks and thumbs up to all who answer ... just give me time to get back and read the answers.
Thanks for your answers!

Good Luck
the manufacturer info for the drive should have the specs, or just try to get new drivers for the HP Avatar? really
The issue here, I think, may not be the graphics card but the graphics drivers. In principle, if the graphics card can display *any* animation or video file, it shouldn’t have a problem playing the movie but for the decoding process between the disc and the drive and the player.
Here’s a suggestion:
- Download the VLC media player (http://www.videolan.org/vlc/), as it may play the movie (although BluRay support isn’t listed)
- Depending on your local laws, it may be legal (or, at least, not illegal) for you to rip the disc to a movie format like .AVI or .MPEG to watch it, but not necessarily legal for you to keep it in that format long-term or to distribute it.
